We celebrate ThanksLiving, or Tofu Beast Day. We still have a big dinner. We still sit around and watch TV. I just no longer think about the Pilgrims & thank them for coming to this new land. I am grateful for my life here. But I am also sad about the Native Folks who died here due to them coming. So I think of today as a remembrance day in the Native's honor.
To kick off this years Tofu day, yesterday we adopted 25 Baby turkey's from Farm Sanctuary. We couldn't come to a decision whether to adopt a boy or a girl turkey, so we picked out the babies instead. So sweet!

We also ordered up a cute colouring zine to keep us busy while waiting for Thanksliving to arrive. I think this zine is great for any time of the year. Kids LOVE coloring in it!
Here is the tofu beasty all wrapped up tightly and cooking away! You can also see the sweet potato casserole cooking along with it. Those are Dandies marshmallows on there! Yes they make everything VEGAN now!

While waiting for the beasty to cook, I got to look at this cute face wondering when it would be done. Apparently my kids were HUNGRY!

I cooked myself out making all kinds of yummies for this day.
This is my gluten free version of Green Bean Casserole. Sorry no crunchy onions, so far I have yet to see gluten free versions of them.

Three count em' THREE kinds of pie. Chocolate Cheezecake below:

Gluten Free Pumpkin Cheezecake Pie:

And three, Gluten Free Vegan Open Faced Apple Pie :

And the beasty finally done.

Sorry forgot to shoot a pic of it whole & uncut. Kids really liked it. It reminded them of the "mock chix legs" they have at The Loving Hut. So they were psyched. I just made it like I used to with the turkey back in the day. I put sweet potato, carrots, and red bliss potatoes (all organic) underneath the beast while it roasted & was basted. Yes I also made some homemade gluten free bread stuffing & two kinds of mushroom gravy. One was button mushroom which we mixed with the green beans (shown above) and some on the bread, the other kind of gravy was for putting on the beasty. Everything went over very well. Even the canberry. I LOVE canberry & had to have the tradition continue on. Eventually we will appreciate homemade cranberry sauce! I hope anyways, I still LOVE the canberry tho!
Until next post..

XOXO Heather :)
